Thankful Thursday

 I was just letting my friend Greg over at the General Store know that I am so 'Thankful' that he is the host every Thursday for 'Thankful Thursday'. 
What am I thankful for:
I am so thankful that in this crazy world we live in that we can still find peace.  I am so thankful that my children do rise up and call me Blessed (well atleast most of the time).  I am so thankful that God gave me 3 of the Best gifts that I could ever ask for...My 3 Grandchildren.  I am so thankful for a great marriage to my sweetheart of 39 years.  I am so thankful that I have a job, while so many are without work.  Yes life is crazy and in the world's eyes things look bleak, but through the eyes of God we have hope and a future...for this I am very Thankful.

Social Networking + I am Back !!!

Okay so I admit it has been along time since I have blogged, not because I haven't had a lot to say or report.  I have been trying out the latest crave Facebook.  It has attacked me like a thief in the night.  At first it started out slow ... I found a couple of people who would accept me as their friend (of course they were my daughters).  Then a few of their friends and some of my family members requested me and I was well on my way into the world of Social Networking. 
When I joined no one told me there would be a daily status, comments, games and likes.  A status..I have to think of a daily status?  I can hardly decide in the mornings if I want vanilla caramel creamer or 2% milk in my cup of coffee and they want me to share a status.   They never told me that after I got home from work the first thing I would do is go to the computer get on this social networking thing and go back to work Farming, taking care of a Zoo, Baking and digging for lost treasures.   Another thing I didn't know was that I would have to decide to  'like' something.   I thought I liked everything and that people knew what I stood for, but I guess you have to make it known by pushing the 'like' button.
I tell you after a year of this, my head hurts from all the farming and plowing I am doing, our laundry has been neglected, dinner...what is dinner? 
I think I need to solve this once and for all go back to blogging because it never took up any of my time.  I only need to check in with Linda at 2nd cup of Coffee and see what she has got brewing for the day.  Check in with Fuschia for my daily devotion and be sure and get my Thankful Thursday in and check in on all my blogging buddies and comment on their post. 
Yes that is what I need to do as a matter of fact I might just try and do both (but give up the farm, the zoo, the bakery and the Island of Treasures).

What's Edwina Been Up To

What's been going on with me since last post.

1. Extreme Home Make Over came to our town and built a home for a well deserving family.

The show is to be aired around the 2nd week in April. My daughter and I went out on a Sunday afternoon and watched them lay the foundation, it was really neat. We didn't get to seeTy, but we did see Michael the designer.

Watched the Bachelor and was very disappointed... Promised to never watch again, until I heard Jillian was going to be the next Bachelorette.

I am still confused on Lost.

Softball has started up and hubby is playing again.

Our church started Rick Warren's 40 Days of Community and we are hosting a small group in our home. We have 5 young couples that are in it and we are all learning to LOVE more and build relationships together.

The GRANDbabies are growing more each day and are still the BEST thing that is happened to me (since my on two were born)!!!

And most exciting news is Spring Break is only 2 weeks away!!! And I am going on a well deserved cruise with my hubby. We are going to Belize and Cozumel, we have been there before, but heck we don't care....Just need to get away and soak in some Carribean Sun.

I will be back from time to time to post, but do know I am checking up on you all frequently.

Valentine's Mailbox

Valentine's Day as a child was always a special time for me. I remember taking an old shoe box and getting some construction paper and cutting out hearts and gluing them to my box and cutting a little hole in the lid, just big enough for valentine cards to slip through. Sometimes, if we didn't have construction paper, we would use tinfoil to decorate the box and then glue pictures that we had colored on the box. Then off to school I would go and display my valentine's box the entire week before school on my desk, just waiting for all my friends to place a valentine card in my mailbox. It was such fun not only getting the cards but giving them away too. I bet some of you remember doing the same thing! So that we don't forget those good old days, I have gathered a few valentineremembrances for you.

I am mad at that OLD Groundhog!!!

Groundhog Day predicts another 6 weeks of winter for all.

I am mad at that old groundhog, it was 16 degrees here in North Florida last night and not a dab of snow. What the heck? Now, I know you all who have snow think I am crazy, but just a 1/2 inch so the babies and I could make snow angels, would have been nice.

I do hope we all thaw out before Spring break comes along next month, or we are going to freeze our little booties off at the beach.

Just Think In Colors

Got this as an email yesterday, too funny not to share with my blogging buddies.

Yesterday I went to the doctor for my yearly physical.My blood pressure was high, my cholesterol was high,I'd gained some weight, and I didn't feel so hot.My doctor said eating right doesn't have to be complicated and it would solve my physical problems. He said just think in colors...Fill your plate with bright colors... Greens, Yellows, Reds, etc.! I went right home and ate an entire bowl of: And sure enough, I felt better immediately.I never knew eating right could be so easy.

1 Raising my Family- I love that God has given me the honor of raising my children and also
having a part in raising their children. It is the best blessing that God has bestowed upon my life.

PICTURE TAG

TAG YOU ARE IT !!!

Since today is a very COOOOOLD Day here in North Florida and I have grown tired of sitting by the warm fire, I thought that I would play 'Picture Tag' with some of my on-line blogging buddies. I saw this over at another blog site and it looks like a lot of fun.

What you need to do is go to your picture files and pick the fourth folder and the fourth picture in the folder and explain it. So here goes, I will start the game off with my picture

Okay, so I must first explain that the actual fourth picture in my fourth folder was one that was cute, but not quite as funny as the fifth picture in my fourth folder. This one was taken one night at Grammy's house during a 'Girls Only Sleep Over'. Jesse and Macy had just gotten out from their bath, and when I came in the bathroom to check on them, they had hopped up on my vanity and decided to adorn themselves with q-tips.

The Giant Whooping Crane

The school in which my daughter teaches and my Granddaughter Jesse goes to school, were part of a Living work of Art yesterday. Dan Dancer, a conceptual artist with 'Art for the Sky', assembled nearly 900 elementary school students and staff to create this picture of a 'Whooping Crane' The art took up an entire soccer field. If you look really close you can see Jesse she is in the wing and my daughter is in the black outline of the crane (j.k.) When I asked my daughter how organized it was with 900 kids, she replied "it was organized chaos". I know that this is something the two of them will remember being a part of forever.

I WANNA BE A ROCKSTAR

Hanna Montana move over. This is the entertainment we had over the weekend. Yes, that's right we didn't even have to pay for a ticket. As a matter of fact, we had front row seating and after the concert, we were able to get autographs. Be watching for upcoming Tour dates in your city.

ICE CREAM

Okay so today I got a newsletter update from one of my favorite reality TV shows- The Biggest Loser and enjoyed reading this quote from the newsletter:

"One thing we are reminded of with The Biggest Loser: Families is that emotions often interfere with our eating. Do you run to the refrigerator for a "comforting" bowl of ice cream after a stressful day at the office or taking care of the kids? Does it aid your angry mood to chomp on crunchy corn chips?" Well, why don't you just hit me right where it hurts? Of course I run to the refrigerator for a bowl of ice cream every night. There is only one more thing more comforting than ice cream at night, but with a 4 year old granddaughter living with us, it usually is out of the question! (now for those of you who didn't quite get that, just keep thinking :) And as far as I can tell, as long as I am blogging, I don't get the urge to eat ice cream? (actually the real problem is I can't do two things at once, especially if it involves my brain and eating). When I eat my ice cream, I don't want any interruptions, No Mam, just leave me alone so I can enjoy the entire bowl. As far as chomping on crunchy corn chips, the only thing that does, is give my granddaughter ammunition to say "Grammy, your breath smells like corn chips!" I am sure that emotions do interfere with our eating, but if I don't get my nightly bowl of ice cream, then a whole lot of emotions are going to come out!!!

NUDITY, BODY BAND AND FSU = WEEKEND OF LAUGHTER

This weekend I have experienced a lot of things, some interesting and weird, some that made me almost pee in my pants laughing, some that made me ponder and some that made me appreciate life even with the sadness. In no particular order here they go:


1. I witnessed along with my hubby, my youngest daughter and youngest granddaughter, a naked man walking on the side of the road.


2. I laughed when my granddaughter said "Maybe he took a shower and forgot to put his clothes back on"


3. I laughed when we came back by the spot on the road where the man had been later, and he was sitting in the backseat of a Sheriff's car. My granddaughter said "I saw his naked shoulder".


4. I laughed after telling the naked man story to my oldest daughter and she replied " I hope the Sheriff that arrested the man, lysoled his seats"


5. I thought of how sad this gentleman's life must be and how even tho he was in the state that he was in, that our heavenly Father loves him.


6. I tried a new exercise tape with my youngest daughter using a Body Band.


7. I laughed at myself hysterically and almost peed in my pants, trying not to slap myself in the face with the Body Band.


8. I laughed at my daughter trying as hard as she could not to laugh at her 'poor old out of shape Mother'


9. I tried to enjoy the FSU vs. Wake Forest game and because we stunk so much, I found myself observing the crowd and checking out the outfits that women wear to football games.


10. I get a laugh out of the women who wear 6" stiletto's to games with shorts and have to walk up 50 flights of stairs.


Over all my weekend was nice and I enjoyed it, but to be honest, I still cannot get the vision of the naked man's butt walking down the highway. (Thank God, we passed him so fast that we didn't have time to see his gifts from God).

WHAT SHAPE IS YOUR LIPSTICK

With so much talk about lipstick these days amongst the Presidential candidates, I started to think about the shape of my lipstick. It looks like the down hill slope of a ski resort. It gets so one sided, that I have to be careful for the side not to fall off. For this reason, I have decided to do a little research so we can all find out what our lipstick says about our personalities.

I hope this helped you all find your personality through your lipstick shape. I have decided that mine is Sharpe angle tip, and unfortunately some of the traits are mine. I may start trying to shape mine more like the rounded smooth tip, but then that wouldn't be me would it?

Ponderings on Baby Boomers

Am I a Baby Boomer? I started thinking today and came up with a few facts that I have read lately that might help me make this decision.


1. I keep catching myself saying the exact things to my children that my parents said to me.




2. My children are starting to look middle-aged.




3. I am helping to take care of my children, grandchildren and parents, but who is taking care



of me? (Sometimes they are all in diapers).




4. I have realized that my mid-section might be getting larger than the clothes in my closet.




5. The term Grammy's having a 'Hot Flash' has become a household phrase in my family.




6. With all my recent visits to the doctor, my health insurance is finally paying off.




7. I actually enjoy hearing about others sickness and operations.




8. My friends and family call at 9:00 p.m. and say 'Did I wake you'?




9. It takes longer to fall asleep than it did to get tired.




10. I know I am grown-up, because I groan every time I get up.



11. I could possibly live without 'sex', but not without my glasses. (just kidding Lee !!!)



12. "Getting a little action" means I don't need to take a laxative.




13. I know all the answers, but no one asks the questions.




14. I have too much room in my house, but not enough room in my medicine cabinet.




15. Kidnappers are not interested in me.





Now, that we have the facts, how many of you can relate. If you are younger than me and find yourself having these symptoms, you might want to call or blog me and I can give you some pointers. (ha :)
